In 2020, David Walsh, Niall Kelly, and Dr. Johnny Walker came together with a shared vision: to transform the way care at home is delivered. Their combined experience in healthcare and technology allowed them to recognise a critical gap, one that had existed for years, but as face-to-face services began to decrease during the pandemic it was clear there was a much-needed place for technology in the care at home sector.
The foundations of HaloCare
The founders of HaloCare understood that the aging population of Ireland, staffing shortages, and growing demands on healthcare systems required a fresh perspective. Rather than relying solely on traditional in-person care, they envisioned a virtual care at home solution that would empower clients to live independently while staying connected to the support they needed. As shared by Co-Founder, David Walsh on the AI Ireland Podcast, for many older people their only wish is to be able to age in the place that they have grown to call home.
Their backgrounds in healthcare, business and technology reinforced the importance of designing a system that was efficient, secure, and above all, person-centred.
What was going to make HaloCare stand out and provide extra value to its clients was the holistic approach to care at home, ensuring clients were physically safe at home but also tackling social isolation and keeping people connected, even when living independently.

Innovating for a Better Future
HaloCare was built on the belief that technology can enhance, rather than replace, human care. The team developed a solution that included smart devices for safety, and proactive support tools, such as the HaloPad and the HaloGo Watch. The HaloCare solution also includes support from the Care Hub team. All these elements come together to provide a solution that improves patient outcomes and supports caregivers in making informed decisions.
A Team Driven by Passion
What sets HaloCare apart is not just its cutting-edge technology, but the people behind it. The team is made up of a wide range of individuals spanning across various disciplines to create a company culture of care and expertise.
Part of what makes HaloCare so special is the dedicated Care Hub team. Every client has the option to opt in for a daily ‘comfort call’ where the client will receive a call from the Care Hub team, at a time that suits them.
The Care Hub is a vital part of the HaloCare solution, ensuring every client living independently doesn’t fall victim to social isolation. Tackling social isolation has been, and always will be, a fundamental aspect of providing quality care at home.
The Expansion of the HaloPad
From the beginning it was clear how beneficial the HaloPad was to our clients. With features like photo sharing, video calling and a built-in calendar which integrates with the Circle of Care Companion App, the HaloPad is an all rounder for keeping clients social and connected - two important aspects of overall wellbeing.
Early 2025 HaloCare expanded their HaloPad offering, creating a new package to make having a HaloPad membership as easy as using the tablet itself!
