How HaloCare works in the home: Kitchen

The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home, but it can also be a source of concern for those living independently, or for those living with memory conditions or older adults who need additional support. With HaloCare, these concerns can be addressed effortlessly, turning the kitchen into a safe environment.

Let’s explore how HaloCare’s innovative solutions can help support clients to be safe at home.

Appliance Management: Ensuring Safety and Convenience

Cooking and kitchen appliances bring comfort and convenience but can also pose risks if left on accidentally. HaloCare’s appliance management solution actively monitors appliance usage and can alert the Care Hub team, if the appliance has been left on longer than usual. This feature reduces the risk of hazards in the home, offering peace of mind for family members and caregivers.

Appliance Management sensors can also assist with nutrition and hydration management. Devices can be attached to household appliances such as the fridge and microwave. The information collected from the sensor lets the Care Hub team know if appliances have been turned on, which can help indicate if the client has been eating regularly.

This information can also be shared with the Circle of Care in the Circle of Care Companion App for peace of mind that their loved one is comfortable at home.

Door Sensors: Keeping Things Secure

HaloCare’s Door Management Solution can alert the Care Hub team if doors have been opened at unusual times such as the middle of the night, this is an important feature for clients that might be prone to wondering.

Door sensors can also be used for security and can alert the Care Hub team if a client has left home and not closed the door correctly.

Flood Detection: Preventing Water Damage

HaloCare’s flood detection technology is designed to identify early signs of leaks by monitoring if taps have been left running. The Care Hub will be notified if taps have not been turned off, and the team can then contact the client to intervene as quickly as possible.

This feature is also beneficial for preventing slips and falls, or structural damage caused by unnoticed leaks.
